Romancing The Soul: True Soul Stories from around the World and Beyond

Still searching for a lost soul mate or maybe yearn for a more intimate connection in your life? This collection of over 60 true-life cases, poetry and philosophy may help to establish a frame of mind that will draw your soul mate back to you.

Editor, Dorothy Thompson’s own experience with her soul mate was the catalyst for this collection. He was not her husband, but a very dear friend and her own story illustrates the reasons behind her drive to discover more about this phenomenon. Explanations for many different types of soul connections are made very clear. Some encounters are transient; a brief meeting with a stranger may never be forgotten and have an impact on the rest of your life. Some soul mates provide a lesson through example or a need, which can only met by one person. For some, a certain child or favourite grandparent has established a bond that is not erased by distance or death. Sometimes you may not realise the connection because the way that this person becomes a part of your being is so natural. Other soul mates fulfil your spirit. They make you feel complete and are always linked to your psyche. Childhood friendships, renewed after years apart can fall into this group. These are the friends that you can call up and talk to as if the missing time does not matter. The bond is the same. “Twin Flames” are those people who feel as if you have found yourself in a kindred spirit, and are often of the opposite sex.

My favourite story, The Drifters by Jim and Joyce Lavene tells of Joyce’s illness as an adolescent, during which she would dream of a particular young man. An out of character episode in which she escaped her parents’ home led her to find Jim. Jim was without a doubt the young man she had dreamed of. Jim had also dreamed of Joyce, even to the point of their meeting. Even though they had never met in this lifetime, they did not need any spoken words to reconnect; they already knew each other. The recognition was instinctive and instant. Their connection was not only written in the stars but he is her “other half”.

Timing is important too. Mary Ball’s own story, Good Things Take Time takes her from a destructive relationship to her meeting with her soul mate, over a course of ten years. During her unhappy marriage, Mary had watched from afar as a man played joyfully with his daughter. These insights into happiness helped to get her through the tough times. After she had left her husband and the man was also newly single, coincidences drew them together. Initially she did not realise that this was the same man that she had glimpsed, years earlier. Eerily, she had also come across his wife, a nurse, and had been shocked by her treatment of Mary’s child. As she left the hospital she felt sympathy for the woman’s unknown family. When the time was right, they were brought together. Jennifer Wardip’s Witchy Woman had this reader laughing out loud. She clashed with her husband at their first meeting, but events drew them together. In the middle of a heated argument, it was as if time had stopped and the attraction hit like a thunderbolt from above. A Knight without Armour, Annette Gisby’s recollection of her newspaper advertisement introduction to her mate, was so touching that it bought this reader to tears. This is only a small glimpse at the inspiring thoughts regarding the course of our destiny and the ones that we are surely fated to meet. Other readers are certain to connect with the many different insights within this anthology.
