Snowed In
Sophie Quinn and her husband Paul have moved from Washington D.C. to Portland, Maine due to Paul’s job. Sophie is not what you call an assertive type of woman. Her marriage to Paul is in trouble, she is at odds with herself mainly, but there is also Paul, the romance in their marriage is on ice thin.
Sophie decided to join a running group, for the sake of her loneliness, and there she meets two brothers, Stephen and Ned Moore. These three start a friendship. At first Sophie thinks Stephen and Ned are a “couple,” she does not realize they are brothers and are partners in their business. While the friendship is blossoming, she meets Natalie, her husband’s assistant Sophie thinks Natalie and her husband are getting a little to close for comfort.
Sophie also has other problems to deal with, The Mother-In-Law from Hell, Pepper, doesn’t believe Sophie has what it takes to be married to her son or to survive the Maine winter. Also, her landlord, Donald, who doesn’t like to have to fix anything which happens to go wrong in Sophie and Paul`s apartment.
This reviewer felt a kinship with Sophie, I found myself crying and hurting, smiling and laughing right along with Sophie through her days and nights, I even wanted to call her best friend, Marta and Sophie’s sister, Delia to help out.
This is a great book by a very talented author. It has something for everyone to relate to. Sophie is a strong character, you forget you are reading a fiction book. The two brothers are so lovable, you want to trade places with Sophie to become their friend.
I give it 4 Angels.
