Love Once In Passing
Jessica Lund could not believe her eyes. One minute she is in her car peacefully driving home from work alone, and then the next minute some man from out of nowhere appears next to her. How could this happen? Her first thought was someone was robbing her, but the more she talked to him, it became apparent that he thought she was somehow playing a trick on him. Neither of them could explain exactly how the man had came to be in the front seat of her car. It isn’t long before they both realize another problem, the date. It is May 5th but the year seems to be a problem for Jessica knows it is 1981 but the man tells her it is the year 1812.
Christopher Dunlap, the Earl of Westerham, cannot figure out what has happened, but he knows Jessica has some truth to her story. After all one moment he was riding his horse in London, and the very next moment he is sitting in something she calls a car that moves on its own with no horses. The more he talks with Jessica the more he figures out that the little vixen isn’t lying, he has definitely been taken from his own time.
Having nowhere else for Christopher to go, Jessica allows him to stay in her home. It isn’t long before both start to have feelings for the other. Christopher has taken it upon himself to make it in this new era, and Jessica helps him along the way with each new discovery. Love will soon blossom, but a tragedy will occur that could pull them apart. Plus neither can forget that Christopher could be pulled back into his own time as fast as he appeared in Jessica’s.
This book started off with a scene between Jessica and Christopher that had this reviewer laughing out loud. Their banter created a lighthearted atmosphere for the beginning of the story. Both characters are very likeable and Ms. Simon does an excellent job in transporting Christopher to an unknown world. Each knew discovery for him is charming to read.
The love that will grow between both characters is very heartwarming, but when the tragedy occurs the story will tense up a bit leaving both characters to deal with the aftermath. Love Once In Passing will leave readers wanting to know more about Christopher and Jessica. After all Ms. Simon leaves us with a teaser for the sequel, Love Once Again.
