Ivy Smith is content with her life. She is the head librarian at the local library, the career she always wanted. Maybe her mother’s wish that she have more excitement is at fault, maybe it’s a curse, or maybe it’s just a stroke of good luck that has Ivy meeting two men. Each with a different challenge to offer her.
Nevil Shute, who approaches her with the news that she is a vampire trapper. He appeals to her sense of right and wrong to get her to join a quest to save humanity. Without her, he alludes the quest may not end in the favor of humans. While he is recruiting her, he warns her of a mysterious stranger.
Vance Rapier, dark, mysterious, and sexy as hell. Ivy knows there is something unusual about him, but she can’t stop thinking of him. He fills her thoughts during the day and evokes illicit dreams at night. When he arranges for them to have dinner, she goes even though it is against her better judgment. The chemistry between them is hot; they don’t wait for their meal before they leave the restaurant for hotter than hot sex.
In the days that follow, Ivy and Vance fall in love. As she comes to terms with who and what she is, she knows that her future with Vance is in question. His secret goes against all she stands for. Finally the moment comes when she must choose. Will she choose to forsake her calling as a vampire trapper and join Vance or will she honor her responsibility to humanity and forget her love for Vance?
Bite Me if You Can by Chaste Foxxe is a quick read that grabs the reader immediately. The reader will enjoy the fast pace of the plot and the great sex between Vance and Ivy. Ms. Foxxe has the reader anticipating the decision Ivy will make about her future, the future of vampires, and the future of humanity.
