Down Came A Blackbird
A love life to some people comes easily but for Cait O’Keefe
it is harder than flying a space shuttle. Because of her heritage and
her uniqueness, it is not unusual for her to ignore men half the time. A
Sidhe, which from her father’s side, is sometimes noticeable with her
eyelids. Not only is her heritage suspicious to humans but also her
parentage. Her mother is human with two husbands. Now to some people
this might sound great, but to her it leads to more questions from
curious nosy bodies. With a Sidhe, once you choose your life mate it is
meant to be forever and like true bonding for them. In order to find the
perfect one, kind of like us humans searching for Mr. Right, Cait has to
be careful of who she sleeps with. Unfortunately, to her there is one
man that is persistent to win her and that is Indio or as his real name
goes Edelmiro Jesus Santiago de Arroyo, talk about a huge name here. As
sex goes, she is careful about not giving him the impression that she’s
easy but it sometimes comes hard when there is deep sexual chemistry
jumping through the pages between these two. As a flight instructor
Edelmiro or to his friend Indio, has flown fast shuttles and planes but
has never met a woman as Cait O’Keefe. To him, the only thing important
in his life lately has been his daughter Socorro. Unlike Cait who has a
hard-time finding love, to him it’s become somewhat of a nuisance. When
women look at him, they are scared of their wits thinking he’s
dangerous. The only reason they think he’s dangerous is because of a
scar on his face. Due to this scar, it’s given him the opportunity to be
in disguise as an agent. With his scar, he can pass as a criminal or an
agent, but to Cait he’s still a man with deep feelings for her. Outside
this rough exterior of a man is a vulnerable one just looking for
someone to love him back as a man and not to treat him with pity. Can
these two find one another? Can they get past heritages and facial scars
to make a life with one another?
The latest from Mrs. Barbara
Karmazin is one science fiction story worth reading from
page-to-page without stopping. When you start reading, it hooks you with
its descriptive atmosphere and the way these characters interact with
each other. Cait is a woman who is at the brink of giving up on finding
her soul mate. To her being a human and a Sidhe is a curse for her. A
curse because if she does find a soul mate she would have to explain her
unique genes and heritage. Most of all she would have to share her
feelings, to which this character finds hard to confront with. Indio
(Edelmiro) is a man who is need of love. A love that can show him that
he’s not that ugly because of his scar. A scar that has taken over his
life has made him uncomfortable of women. To him, he notices that no
woman would ever love him again because of scarred face, but with a
little faith and a strong woman, he might just get his love. Truly, a
story to read about and enjoyable throughout the end. Ms.
Karmazin knows how to write science fiction like no author with
strong descriptive words that entrances the reader with attention.
