Eyes of Betrayal

Detective LeAnne McVeigh is back again and after a murderer. It seems that the murderer she is after might just be the same one that she was after two years ago when she met the love of her life, Marcus “Snake” Gallego. In the two years since he left Henry County and LeAnne, she has heard nothing from him, but she loves him nonetheless. Since he rolled back into town with his pal, Egan “Villain” Tate, the murders have resurfaced. Is there a connection? Can LeAnne put her heart back in Snake’s hands?

Egan “Villain” Tate was once a top gun in the Lords of Lucifer bikers club. He left the Lords, but realized that though he left, they are never far behind. The Lord’s are out to kill Tate for his dishonoring them; his punishment must be his life. Coming to Ohio with Snake, Tate never thought his life would become more complicated, but it has. Tate meets Dr. Whitney Montgomery and feels things that his cold and cynical heart has never felt before. However, Tate doesn’t want to get to close to Whitney, he isn’t the right man for her and the Lords would use her if they knew she was his.

With a murderer on the loose and the evil and deadly Lords coming to town, will Henry County, Ohio ever be the same? Can wounds of the past, betrayals and even murder, be overlooked?

Patricia A. Rasey writes Eyes of Betrayal with the same grit and powerful writing as she did in the prequel Kiss of Deceit. Once again, we are brought into the lives of LeAnne and Snake, as well as the characters we had met in Kiss of Deceit. Nevertheless, we are introduced to new characters, namely Tate and Whitney and one very scary member of the Lords, Psyche, who gave me chills! The characters are all so compelling and powerful themselves, that they literally walk right off the pages and come to life. Ms. Rasey I am finding writes some of the best in-depth characters.

The mystery surrounding the murders from two years ago resurface ten-fold and keep one on the edge of their seat. Did I guess who the killer might be? YES, but at the end I found out I was very wrong.

Patricia A. Rasey keeps the mystery going right until the very end. I read Kiss of Deceit and Eyes of Betrayal back-to-back, but each could be savored on their own. I am eager to see if Ms. Rasey will delight us with a third book that will bring back these wonderful characters. I gave Kiss of Deceit 5 Angels and Eyes of Betrayal receives the same. But both stories are deserving of many more than that.
