Whispering Shadows

Things had not been going well for Pulitzer Prize winning novelist, David Ellis. His wife had chosen her publication party to inform him that she was in love with another man and wanted a divorce. Allowing his temper to control him, he was forced to go through his very public divorce in jail. Now that he was released, he wanted to salvage what was left of his literary career.

He was looking for a quiet place to resume his writing when he came upon the three-story house in a small New Hampshire town. He was particularly fascinated by the story behind the black and white painting of the former owner, world-renowned Ballerina, Jenna Whitcomb. The painting was said to have lost all color when the beautiful young woman died 30 years before. It would be restored when she was happy once more. David thought it was an interesting legend, but nothing more. He begins to fear for his sanity when the spirit starts to communicate through extremely erotic visions. Has the strain finally become too much for the novelist to take, or is the enchanting spirit truly reaching out from the other side?

Ms. Jenson has once again created an unusual and interesting story with Whispering Shadows. David Ellis is an extremely deep, emotional character. The pain and anguish he feels as his life is falling apart will undoubtedly generate sympathy in the reader. This reviewer especially loved the way Ms. Jenson explains the emotions a writer goes through when they are creating their work. Even those that do not write themselves will be able to better understand the emotional turmoil all authors go through when they are putting their heart and soul into a story.

Though the story was good it was mostly set about David and would have liked to hear more of Jenna’s story. She seems to have much more to say then what was in the book. Overall, it is a fascinating story that you will want to finish in one sitting. Ms. Jenson has a wonderful way with her characters and does a fantastic job of bringing this story to life.
