Lonesome Bride
Caitleen O'Neal is running from East Frankton, Pennsylvania
to Lonesome, Montana as a mail order bride. It isn't that she couldn't
find a husband in Pennsylvania. She probably could although her choices
are limited by her father's reputation of a drunk and gambler. It is the
gambling part that has Caite in her present circumstances. Her very own
father gambled her away in a hand of poker and lost. Caite decided that
she would rather take her chances with a perfect stranger rather than
marry a womanizing drinking gambler such as Drake Hammond. Thus, Caite
joined the Baptist bride program to escape Hammond's clutches. Caite is
sent by the program to Montana to marry Jed Peters.
When
Caitleen gets off the train in Lonesome she meets Jed Peters. He is
young, handsome and very rude. But the attraction that flares between
them from the start is amazing. Caite feels she has made the best choice
when she became a mail order bride. After all, she could live with a
rude man that was so appealing better than she could a rake like Drake
Hammond. And to show herself and her new husband-to-be just how well
suited they could be, on the two-day trip from Lonesome out to Peters'
ranch, Caite gives into the sexual attraction. After all, they were as
good as married...or were they? It isn't until they reach the ranch
Heatherfield that she learns that the man that she traveled with and
made passionate love with isn't who she thought he was.
This
book is jam packed with wonderful heart endearing characters and even
one or two that aren't so endearing. Megan Hart created wonderful
personalities for the characters and they are very believable. The plot
has many twists and turns that will keep the reader guessing. Caite is a
beautiful heroin that you cry and rejoice with. Jed is a strong male
that will do whatever it takes to win his heart's desire. This reviewer
was rejoicing when these two found out that Caite wasn't going to marry
Jed's father after all. Now they just had to find their way into each
other's arms, which is a rocky road indeed. Will they make it or will
outside forces such as the men that Caite is running from destroy their
one chance at true love. Ms Hart has a very well written book in
Lonesome Bride. The story flows like a smooth piece of glass from start
to finish. The detailing, descriptions and feeling that is in this book
makes the reader feel they have been transported into Caite and Jed's
life. Definitely a must read for Megan Hart fans. This reviewer couldn't
stop reading and would recommend it as a good read. Curl up with a hot
cup and settle in for wonderful afternoon in Caite and Jed's world. This
is a keeper and one to be read again and again.
