The Favor: Out of the Ashes Book III
Vietnam, a time when young men loose their innocence, and when women were not permitted to join during the war. However, that does not stop combat reporter Toni Wright from getting the story and telling it how it is, to the people. During one of her missions to report a story, she encounters a little problem. Well big considering it deals with her husband. After having his legs amputated, he has the audacity to ask his wife to go back to Vietnam and rescue his mistress and two children. With shame, betrayal all in one day Toni is not in a good mood but everything changes when she meets Sam Patterson during this ordeal.
As a marine Sam Patterson is taught to fight, give out a helping hand to a friend and never leave a loved one behind. Things start to change when he encounters Toni again, after leaving her with his platoon while he goes on a short vacation. He never thought that his platoon would disappear not knowing whether everybody is dead or alive for that matter, or that Toni was once married. As Toni confides in him about the favor that her husband’s requested of her, he is also shocked and admires her for what she will do. Going beyond the call of duty Toni is unlike any other wife to do this favor for her husband. The thing is, though she has had it with men, Sam feels a strong attraction towards her. Sam hopes she doesn’t hate all men, as he tried to make her see that love does exist.
Together they are brought to one another, to not only bring a family together but also, to tell the story of the Vietnam War as it is through their eyes. Ms. Snodgrass’s latest surpasses all expectations and her imagination shines through The Favor. From the prologue, Toni is a woman during the Vietnam War that any woman would want to be. She is a fighter, independent but most of all she does not quit for anything, which is why her husband knows she will go through with this. Definitely recommended for it’s lifelike characters, and emotions that the readers will feel through the story, as Ms. Snodgrass takes you through the Vietnam War.
