Crimson Dreams
As a little girl, Heather Kincaid has always felt lonely and unwanted. Losing her mother and father in the same year has made her vulnerable and some people would say delusional. Ever since she was eighteen and met her dream lover, she has been in limbo. As children we had imaginary friends, to Heather this dream lover was her friend, one she told her deepest feelings and secrets. Going back to where it all started was not something she ever thought she would be doing again, but this time she is selling that summer home. To Heather, by selling the home she might have a chance of being normal and living a life she always wanted with real friends. Only problem is when she gets there her dream lover calls her again and this time makes an appearance that will shake her to the toes.
She is back and hopefully for good and Devin Macavoy rejoices of Heather’s comeback. Just when he thought that he would never see Heather again she comes back to the place where they met years ago. Years of only talking to her in dreams and in cyber space was not enough for Devin this time he wants her for good beyond the firewalls and dreams. To her, he is a mystery only appearing at night and never aging but in reality he is her soul mate. As dreams and reality go nothing seems real but Devin hopes that Heather can see with open eyes and see that what she has been searching for all her life is right in front of her.
In dreams he comes to her, making her pour out her soul and her secrets, but in real life he is more than a friend he is her lover. Heather Kincaid has always wanted a friend, someone who she can talk to and hopefully love her back. She always felt that she was a mistake to her parents, never feeling loved.
Impossible to believe that what she has been wishing for a long time only comes to her in dreams and always disappearing when she awakes. Devin Macavoy knows her feelings, secrets and how vulnerable she has become since they first met. He tries to lessen her pain after losing her parents by being her friend, but now he wants more. With Ms. Carter’s powerful words and great dialogue these two characters shine throughout the book. From the beginning, Heather is a young girl barely growing when she meets Devin. Only she is able to see and hear him. He, on the other hand waits until she has matured to have her as his own forever.
This reviewer just loved these characters and the way Devin makes Heather see that they are right for one another and destined to be together. Highly recommended for its paranormal atmosphere but also for the way these two characters learn to love and see that love does exist even outside of dreams.
