Ravished Wings
Odette knew of death and torment in her young life. Her parent’s had just been murdered on the whim of fanatical Lord Charles Martel, who tried to disband and scatter the pagan religion from his conquered lands. Vanda her older half sister, agreed to marry Charles Martel’s brother Thierry to secure her lands and protect her sister. However, Vanda has her own motivations for marrying Thierry.
Odette’s brother in law, Thierry, afraid for her safety took her to her Mother’s people in the Kingdom of Altha. The people here were free and the children played until their hearts content. The kingdom of Altha was based on the fundamental belief in the balance of the opposing yet complimentary elements of feminity and masculinity. The men were protectors and masters of the women. As a child, Odette’s did not realize the differences between Altha and the world she had previously known. Yet, the differences are obvious in her new surroundings.
Odette had been granted citizenship in Altha and come to know unconditional love in King Larsarian’s and Queen Honi’s stronghold. When Odette had been with them but a year, she turned eighteen and the time for her training as a woman of Altha was about to begin. The powers of darkness are closing in on Odette. Only one man can claim her heart, but will he reach her in time to save her from a fate worse than death?
Ravished Wings is a beautifully written book. The world building is masterful and the characters are so real you could reach out and touch them. Ms. Perry has a poetic writing style that will take her far. This reviewer thoroughly enjoyed this book and I look forward to reading more of her suspenseful tales. However, this book is not for the faint of heart. There are a few graphic scenes that some may find difficult to read. In addition, as a warning, domination and submissive scenes are also present but are so intricately woven into this story that they are necessary to the world in which this book is set. If these kinds of situations do not bother you as a reader, then I highly recommend this book.
