Heaven Sent

Eloise is a guiding angel in heaven. Her job is to guide the souls in her charge to keep them from making stupid mistakes and to find true happiness. Milton is her immediate boss. Milton and God have decided that many of Eloise's charges have gone astray. She has given up and returned their souls to other angels to guide out of frustration. To put it plainly she has the worse success record and the highest discard record and it is about time that something is done about it. He is left with the chore of informing Eloise that she is being sent down to earth to live as a human until she learns the necessary lessons of humanity: love, trust and faith.

Poor Eloise is dropped to earth without any knowledge of the situation she has found herself in as a teacher. She doesn't even know her name! She has to develop the role she has landed into from scratch and what little information she manages to find out from those around her. Her characters are a riot. Moreover, she doesn't get much help from one of her students parents, Nathan Baxter.

Nathan Baxter is a loving father, a widower, and a busy cop. He also has a busybody mother and an adorable 5-year-old daughter. Rita Mae is constantly searching for the next mother for Pheobe. As if a busy man like Nathan has time for romance! Besides, his daughter was devastated over the loss of her mother and the little girl didn't need any more heartache in her young life. However, something about his daughter's teacher has made his heart to start fluttering. Ms Starr is unlike any other woman that Nathan has ever known. She is like a fish out of water in almost any situation. Many things about her make Nathan suspicious.

Heaven Sent is funny, witty and a joy to read. Judi McCoy's wonderful imagination has made this book to be another amusing page-turner. This book has a wonderful plot that keeps the reader interested in Eloise's and Nathan's problems from the first page. The characters are full of life and colorful to say the least. Nathan is a wonderful father who is smitten with his daughter's teacher. Ms McCoy has developed his character to be incredibly believable in how he knows that these feelings aren't right, but is helpless against them. Both characters are confused throughout most of this story. What will happen if Eloise manages to learn the lessons she was sent to earth to learn? Will she just disappear from earth to return to heaven and leave those that are learning to care about her? You will have to buy this book to answer those questions.
