From the Dark Places

Kate wakes up hearing her daughter, Sara screaming. Little Sara screamed for her mom to make the dark go away. She was in some kind of trance, so Kate chalked it up to be night terrors and they had to run their course. The next morning Sara was her regular self. It was not until Kate got home did Sara beg her mom not go out that evening. How did Sara know about the planned evening that Kate had just found out about herself? At the book signing party Kate began to feel awkward, her mind began to play tricks on her. She ran from the party and into the street where she was hit by a car. Waking up in the hospital she tried to forget the black hole, the darkness she had envisioned before everything faded away.

Something about Dr. Ray, the man whom is in her room caring for her since she wakes up bothers her. Though she does not fear him, her sixth sense starts alarming her. Then when Sara says her daddy told her Dr. Ray was a good man Kate gets worried. Unfortunately, Sara’s daddy is dead, but the young girl insists her daddy talks to her. Dr Ray has a lot more to do with the past and the darkness. He’s there to help Sara overcome obstacles and to help Kate believe in them and to learn of the gifts and talents she has. However, a secret cult threatens to take away what the doctor has grown to love. He must save them from the darkness or lose them forever. A battle begins and some will win but there’s always a loser.

From the Dark Places is a true thriller you think one thing will happen but it doesn’t and the ending is better then you ever imagined. Something dark and mysterious happens sending what is supposed to be true spiraling in different directions. Ms. Carter did an excellent job in describing the book and the different scenes broadening the mind in what is real and what can really happen. I like the imagination in the story and in the characters such as Sara. Her character is fascinating and so far my favorite. I look forward to more stories from Ms. Carter this one especially since this was a page-turner definitely describes the talented imagination Ms. Carter has.
