Tori McAdams is a sensible, disciplined and hard-nosed woman. She is a trained professional private investigator on a case. During the course of this case she runs into what she believes is a crazy stalker. In her confrontation with the stalker she shoots him in the face and he actually gets up and tries to come after her. Knowing he will be coming for her she feels fear for the first time and she calls on the assistance of, Declan, a detective she has dealt with in the past. She believes he can protect and assist her even though she has resisted the wild attraction they have felt for each other. Before he can get to her and help her, the stalker, who turns out to be an evil vampire, bites and ravages her.

Declan who comes back from out of town finds out the one woman he has been waiting for had finally called him to help her. But by the time he gets back there is no help he can give her. Her apartment is destroyed with blood everywhere and no sign of Tori McAdams is found besides the gallons of blood and gore on her walls. He is torn apart by the idea that the woman he has lusted after for some time had been attacked and he couldn’t help her. He is then surprised when she comes knocking on his door half dead, starved but still the Tori McAdams he wanted.

They end up making love and Declan tries to reconcile his knowledge of vampires and what Tori has become. When he tries to explain her change he ends up showing her his other self, his shape shifting abilities. Will Tori be able to accept what she has become? And will she be able to accept Declan too? Will Declan be able to protect Tori from an enraged Master vampire before he destroys Tori? You will definitely have to buy this book to find out.

This reviewer found this book an exciting, thrilling adventure on the dark side, in a very good way. For many who read paranormal this is a double treat because it contains both a vampire and a shape shifter. Highly recommended for those who enjoy vampires and shape shifters. Again the attraction and intense emotion between Declan and Tori constantly simmers in the background during the entirety of this story. While the love scenes are so erotically carnal and sensual they practically burn your senses as you read them. This reviewer had a breathtakingly difficult time reading this book because it was so hot. The drama and the plot as well as the mystery were action packed and exciting. From page one, this reviewer was hurled into the creation of a contemporary world that Ms. Walker masterfully created. The story was so vivid and alive that the reader could not help but be lost in it.

Unfortunately, this reviewer did not want to leave it once the end of the story was reached. Sadly and almost tearfully the end was reached. Shiloh Walker has created another masterpiece that, this reviewer believes, will become a staple in the arsenal of all readers of erotic paranormal romance. Thank you, Ms. Walker, for another wonderfully exciting story.
