The MacAulay Bride
Harrison MacAulay must have an heir by his 31st birthday, a mere fourteen months away. As per his late father’s will, Harrison will lose everything if he does not have an heir within this time. Harrison could have any woman he wants, he is wealthy, strong, a doctor, it would be very easy for him to find a woman to carry his heir. However, Harrison longs for one woman...Brianna. For ten years, Harrison has thought of her daily, but he cannot have her, for Brianna is his sister-in-law! When Harrison receives word that his brother had died, he travels to America to bring Brianna and his two nephews back to Edinburgh, Scotland with him. He needs an heir and Brianna will need a man to take care of her, what better way to accomplish both than by bringing her home? Harrison soon learns that Brianna isn’t like any of the docile ladies he’s known, she fights him at every opportunity and doesn’t obey a thing he says.
Brianna’s only plan after her husband died was to get enough money together to start her a full-time boarding house from her home. But Brianna needs her brother-in-law, Harrison to talk to the lawyer to get the money that was left to her in her husband’s will and is positive that it will only be a matter of days, then she can begin living her life as she chooses. Nevertheless, Harrison brings news that her husband had extreme debts and that she must sell the house in order to pay them all. To make things even worse, Harrison tells her that her husband left him as the boys guardian, if anything was to ever happen to him. Brianna fights with all that she has when Harrison proposes to move to Scotland with him, but with no money and the possibility of losing her boys, she has no choice. Harrison manages to get Brianna to travel back to Scotland with him, but with a guilty heart. The lies and deceit that he has webbed, do not sit well within him. Will Harrison realize that love isn’t about control? Will lies tear Harrison and Brianna apart before they can even begin?
Nancy Pirri pens a wonderfully written tale of a strong, determined Scottish male and an equally strong-willed American woman, who butt heads constantly. The MacAulay Bride is a fast-paced, never boring tale that keeps the reader on their toes. Ms. Pirri’s characters are not just believable but also vibrant just bursting with honest emotions. I enjoyed Harrison and Brianna’s quarrels immensely, whether laughing or crying. They were always very heated, fiery arguments that left both of them wondering, exactly who had won. However, even with all those quarrels, came a sexual attraction that was explosive and undeniable? These characters had to learn to swallow their pride and let their hearts do the talking. It was an incredible journey in The MacAulay Bride. This wonderful and enchanting tale comes strongly recommended by this reviewer. It was impossible to put it down once begun. Debut book, The MacAulay Bride, launches a sensational beginning to Nancy Pirri’s writing career. I look forward to more tales from this author.
