The Peasant’s Wise Daughter

Elizebeth and her father Johann lived in a stone cottage near the edge of the forest. Since her mother passed away years ago she became the ‘woman’ of the house caring for her father. A fire in the stables caused him to be bed ridden for some time and Elzebeth cared for the animals and for others while still being there for him. She, like her mother and grandmother, was a healer using herbs to care for the sick. Elzebeth was not only compassionate but also smart.

While doing her chores one morning, she hears a horse and on it is Prince Wilhelm, a man with whom she had secretly dreamt about. Prince Wilhelm was a man of all men, handsome and strong. He fell for her wit from the start. Not many women were like Elzebeth, her strong character forced him to be in awe of this peasant. Mutual attraction leads them into promising positions taking away her maidenhood. When she refuses to go with him to the castle to be his concubine he is a bit thrown but leaves her. In his own way, he is able to get her to the castle. Elzbeth must solve a riddle to get what she wants from the Prince. A Prince and a peasant are not supposed to love each other but tell that to these two. Their problems become worse when the spoiled Emperors niece shows up wanting the Prince to her.

This is a nice fairy tale; good girl wins the Prince type story. The sex in it is intriguing and well written. Elzebeth is strong and more then capable of taking care of anything that gets in her way. She knows what she wants and goes for it. I really liked her character and look forward to reading more from Ms. Walder.
