Three years ago, Detective Marleen Avoni and investigative reporter, Conner Brenningan went their separate ways after a brief relationship. Conner had problems with Marleen’s dangerous career and felt that women should be at home taking care of their families instead of taking down criminals.

Danger, suspense, passion and an exhilarating roller-coaster ride sweep the reader away in Conner’s Back by Irene Estep. Conner and Marleen are strong characters who are stubborn, tough and protect those they love at all costs. Their sassy and quick dialogue is humorous and eases some of the dangerous and emotional tensions that run rampant throughout this tale. The secondary characters also make Conner’s Back, an enjoyable read. Conner’s match-making daughter, Joani, is a delight. Marleen’s friend and sometimes DEA partner, David, pique’s the reader’s curiosity to learn more about him. This reviewer hopes that David gets his own story!

It’s a tension-filled romantic suspense that keeps us on the edge of our seats and reading furiously to see what happens next. Conner’s Back is a wonderful gripping tale of trust, love, honour and danger. I look forward to reading more from Irene Estep in the future.
