Yzabeau de Cambion was out at night trying to locate herbs for her sick sister. She pretended not to hear the footsteps that followed her, but they where getting closer. She began to run, still they followed. Yzabeau pulled out her knife to fight whoever was following.. She tried to get away from the three men but they overpowered her. Yzabeau knew only one of the men. He had come to collect the money owed by her brother. She hated Henri Le Marinier, he was a scum of a man that raped her with his eyes. Henri grabbed her and took her knife telling the other two men to hold her down so he could savor her charms. Henri was waiting for the two men to hold her down but the sound of something advancing in the dark leapt out, suddenly attacking and breaking the neck of one of his henchmen. Soon both men were overtaken, killed by the mysterious Dark One. Angered by the attack, Henri let go of Yzabeau so he could fight this enemy. As Henri advanced, the Dark One said not a word. Then the Dark One grabbed Henri and killed him. As the Dark one turned to look at Yzabeau, he held out his hand. Yzabeau knew in her heart that she had met this man before-but knew it was not in this lifetime. Yzabeau took his hand and wave of desire hit her. Who is the Dark One and will she be safe in his arms?
This Reviewer found the plot to be well thought out and very fast moving. The characters were well written and captured my interest from the beginning, holding my attention until the end .The hero as well as the heroine were very real, and made me root for their story to end in true love. This Reviewer gave this book a Four Angel rating for a great read.
