Can a surgeon with a 6-year-old daughter and a last year resident get past the memories of a dead wife and the interference of others? Cole is so tired and lonely, although he is reluctant to admit it or do anything about it. Destiny doesn’t have time to sleep, much less have time for dating. Neither Cole, nor Destiny can discount the connection and chemistry between them. Destiny is afraid to trust in something so strong and can only pray her heart will remain in one piece.
The sparks between Cole and Destiny were instantaneous. There was never any question that they wanted each other. Mrs. Crawford’s ability to make you feel what her characters are feeling is more than convincing. This reader was with Cole in his pain over his wife’s death, over the guilt of moving on, the joys and never ending tasks of parenting, and his excitement at the reawakening of his life. This reader was with Destiny in her pride at having her residency almost completed, her giddiness at the feelings of the schoolgirl crush, and related to her distress at loving a man, despite her brother’s disapproval of inter-racial relationships.
This story unfolds at a realistic pace that had me eagerly following along until the end.
