Jared Romero has a knack for computers although his latest assignment brings him more trouble than he counted on. Injured and needing to hide, he knows that the law is the last place he can go to for help. He takes a chance and breaks into Macayla Sullivan's vehicle. Macayla's boss is forcing her to take some of her vacation time. Macayla is feeling less than enthusiastic about three weeks with nothing to do. As she is contemplating her options, Jared comes falling out of her car. When he passes out, she feels she has no choice but to help him. Her vacation was starting with a bang.
Jared and Macayla make it through the night only to find that the morning brings more questions and even fewer answers. Jared's project should come to fruition in three weeks, if he can manage to elude the bad guys. Until then, it is decided that they should go to a safe house. He may have survived the bullet wound, but he is not sure he can survive three weeks with a woman that sets his blood on fire.
Macayla is not thrilled with the idea either. Since Jared is in no condition to travel and take care of himself, Macayla needs to go with him. She has not felt this attracted or unnerved by a man in years. She has no desire to start something with a man that could never be interested in the long-term. What are they going to do once they are alone in a cabin together? Once at the cabin, they both discover that what is on the surface barely skims the depth of who they are and what they feel. As the tension and desire between them grows, an enemy lurks out there, watching and waiting to see if Jared will slip up.
Take Your Medicine grabs the reader immediately. Arianna Hart has done a superb job creating a story that blends suspense and romance. The story has a cast of characters that are humorous and believable. Jared is more than just a good-looking man with brains. He has the reader hoping he can convince Macayla that they can be more than just doctor and patient. At the same time, readers are cheering for him, they are also compelled to support and understand Macayla's position. Arianna's storytelling moves the plot along quickly with bits of humor, passion, and tension all intermixed. This is a definite must read. You will truly enjoy Jared and Macayla's story. This is a great sequel to her already popular release Surprise where you meet Macayla and Jared for the first time.
