The Mean Green Machine
Three bombs, three explosions, and innocent civilians are starting to be killed; that is just the beginning of the nightmare brought by the Green Machine. The Green Machine is tired of standing back and watching politicians and businessmen make money and wield power off the environment. Man is the biggest threat to the environment and therefore needs to be stopped by any means necessary. They have tried to use traditional measures, now they will step outside the realm of what's legal and ethical to polite society as they try and change a country, and eventually the world.
Superintendent Jim Gilliard arrives at the scene of the first murder, only to be thrown deeper and deeper into the spider web of intrigue that surrounds the Green Machine. When he asks Al Brookes for assistance, they both realize that the treachery and planning behind the Machine is greater than anyone could have ever imagined. While the Green Machine continues to amass casualties in the name of the environment, Brookes and Gilliard fight against time and hidden enemies to put an end to the terrorism.
Alan Brooker has written a story fraught with tension and intrigue. The reader is immediately drawn into the action as the plot literally explodes on the first page. The detailed descriptions and plot development lend an edge to an already well-designed storyline. The reader is kept on the edge of their seats trying to determine where the Green Machine will strike next and how, and if the police can catch them in time. Alan Brooker adds twists and surprises to the action to keep the reader guessing until the very last page. A truly enjoyable read.
