A professor of mine during my college years taught a class in Taboos, where he showed "Deep Throat" as part of the curriculum. He explained the difference between pornography and erotica this way. "A story where the postman rings the bell, the housewife lets him in, they have sex on the table--that's Pornography. Erotica has a plot."
According to that definition, Michelle Houston's Bedtime Tales are sheer erotica, even though there's a bit more plot to her stories than just a horny postman. These tales are longer than flashers and shorter than regular erotic stories. She runs the wonderful erotic lit website, www.ladiesweb.net, and this is her first story collection.
The stories in this volume are lusty; the characters are ordinary people, the language, plain and straightforward. Bedtime Tales revels in mostly monogamous lust. Highlights include "A Passion for Learning", the story of a man who likes to role-play as a stern teacher, "A Scent of Lavender" a sexy escapade in a bubble bath. "Entangled" is about a man who accidentally watches a female co-worker masturbate, and how their friendship eventually blossoms into a sexual relationship. "Howl of the Full Moon" is a shape shifter/werewolf tale and "Vanilla Wishes and Honeyed Dreams" is a lesson in how to eat sexy with honey and/or ice cream on top. A short, satisfying read.
