To Catch a Cowgirl
After finding Roy, her ex-fiancée, in a motel room with another woman, Marni Lewis called off the engagement and swore she would never fall for another cowboy. They caused nothing but heartache and pain. Marni figured that this was why Roy wanted her to give up barrel racing; so he could play around the rodeo circuit. Nursing a broken heart, Marni leaves Oklahoma and moves to Texas to be with her best friend, and old babysitter, Kate. Kate, and her husband Ben, happily take Marni and her horse, Twister, in.
Jake Harrison is trying to sell his new stock of horses in order to keep the family ranch he's close to losing. What better way to show them off than at the rodeo? Jake sees the spunky little barrel racer and goes to her trailer to meet her. Little did he know when he opened the door that he would get an eye full of Marni Lewis.
Mortified beyond belief Marni accuses Jake of being a pervert and a peeping tom and screams at him to leave. What baffles her is the fact that this stranger stirred something inside her.
Jake has known Ben and Kate for years. Jake agrees to help Ben with the chores on his ranch so he can be closer to Marni. Even though he's been warned about Marni's feelings towards cowboys, Jake sets out to change her mind. Can he pull it off? Can he make her trust him?
Marni doesn't want another cowboy, and that's final…or is it? The problem is; her body doesn't listen very well. It ignites every time Jake is around. Can she trust him? Will he be like all the other cowboys she knows?
Suzanne Walter tells a good story of two people trying to learn to trust again. Marni thinks she can never trust another cowboy and Jake thinks women only want him for what he can give them. Marni and Jake are true to life, likable characters that leave you hoping they find the trust that is needed for a relationship to begin between them.
