Slave of Desire

Set in the future, Calandra Jones has escaped from a pirate ship that holds prisoners. While she was a prisoner herself, convicted of manslaughter, Calandra was also a trusted guard on the ship. She has a dream to travel to a planet where she can be free. With what she hopes is a clever disguise, she enters a bar looking for someone willing to let her work for her passage to freedom, but Drago Chavez has other ideas for Calandra. He kidnaps her from the bar. Out to make a name for himself, Drago is a slave merchant and his plans for Calandra have nothing to do with freedom. He plans to sell her at an auction. She has a very good chance of becoming the valued mistress or even the bride of a man in high power if she plays her cards right. Drago can't understand why she would want anything more than what he offered; no other woman he had sold had ever complained at being pampered and spoiled. But even with the opportunity Drago offers her Calandra still resists and uses whatever means she can to escape from Drago. Every means possible includes her own sexuality and passion. Seducing Drago proves to be a pleasurable task. All along their trek across the wide deserts she tantalizes him with her perfect body and beautiful face, hoping she can make him change his mind and release her. But will it be enough to entice him to let her go? And by the end of their journey will she want him to let her go?

From the first steamy sex scene this book is red hot. It is amazing that Ms Devlin managed to get a plot written among all the sexual exploits of Calandra and Drago. But there is indeed a plot, and Ms Devlin's characters are well developed as to grab the reader's interest. Calandra is a headstrong woman that will do whatever is necessary and will use whatever resources needed to get what she wants. Drago is just as headstrong as she is and that makes for passion and sparks between the two main characters. While this reviewer has nothing against sex, it just seems to be the over-riding theme in this book as Calandra and Drago are always having sex in one form or another. This book is full of sex, sex, and more sex. If you don't like your books full of hot steamy sex then this book isn't for you.
