Solomon's Decision
Eight years have passed since that one night in Seattle. That night, Kathryn had been such an emotional wreck. She was tormented by Jessie's death and the knowledge that their future together was gone. Her dreams of love and family died with Jessie a week before they were to be married. She had hoped that by some gift of fate that she could be carrying Jessie's child, but her body told her differently. More than she wanted her next breath, she wanted to have a baby. Considering the emotional roller coaster Kathryn had been on, it wasn't any wonder that Erik had affected her so deeply. She was exhausted; she'd undergone another procedure earlier in the day, and then had flown to a conference in Seattle. Now she only wants to sleep, but one look at Erik and she felt emotions awakening that had been dead since Jessie.
Erik catches Kathryn before she can leave the dinner. He responds to being in her presence and can see that she responds to him also. On the way to her hotel she falls asleep. When they get to their destination he can't wake her. As Kathryn awakens, she thinks she's had a nightmare; she turns to 'Jessie' and wants him to make love to her. Kathryn is stunned and mortified when she realizes that it's Erik in her room, not Jessie. Her body tingles with awareness and despite hardly knowing him, Kathryn turns to him anyway.
Eight years later, Kathryn lives a quiet life with a job she enjoys and kids she adores; she wasn't prepared for Erik to come back into her life. Kathryn can remember Jessie now without the devastation she once felt, but Erik still sends her emotions into a tailspin. To her credit, Kathryn does her best to deny her attraction to Erik, just as Erik does the same. It isn't long before desire and longing override what they think is good sense. However, what will Erik think when he notices that Kathryn's twins look remarkably like his dead sister?
Solomon's Decision is an emotionally exhilarating story. Readers will be drawn into the feelings shared between Erik and Kathryn. Judith B. Glad weaves this particular plot twist in such a way that even though you see it coming, the outcome still leaves you flabbergasted. Not often have I read a storyline has believable as this. Kudos to Judith, for her true to life characters and an outstanding story.
