Demons, Daughters
& Father God

For generations, the women of Marie's family promised themselves to Laven, a man like no other. With each daughter born, the child was promised to him. But for the first time in 400 years, Laven would no longer receive a thing. Marie learned after the tragic death of her mother, that Laven only meant death and destruction. Marie vowed to keep her daughter Danielle from Laven's clutches. But all the sacrifices and choices Marie made years ago to protect Danielle may end up being all for nothing now that Danielle is all grown up and determined to learn the secrets of the past. Danielle becomes even more determined to uncover the past when she learns of a crystal ball that Marie had secreted away, and the story of a demon that possesses it. Danielle is a fortune teller who truly believes in the paranormal, but when she unleashes the one thing her mother fears most, can they be saved from the clutches of evil?

Demons, Daughters and Father God by Katherine Irving is intense and chilling. I read this in one sitting before heading to bed…big mistake! Waiting for Laven to strike was riveting, the desire to know his real full powers kept me glued to this book. However, I found that the consistent jumping to all the characters took me out of the story. Just when I would be in a pivotal moment with intense action, the story would switch to other characters, which would have me changing perceptions a lot and it would be a let down waiting to get back to the intensity and the crux of the story.

Ms. Irving pens chilling and spine-tingling horror that may just have fans of this genre coming back for her stories time and again.
