Trail of Seduction is set in the 1850's. When Kathleen was caught by her father having sex he locked her in her room and vowed to get her off of his hands by finding her a husband. Being a man of wealth Kathleen's father found a man that would take his daughter, damaged goods that she was, for a price. And Kathleen found herself in a loveless and abusive marriage to a man named Boyd that used her as a slave in his livery stables. Kathleen felt she would never escape the long grueling hours of work and abuse until a stranger who comes into town and sees her plight asked her to go away with him. Kathleen jumps at the chance to leave this life of cruelty behind her. The fact that Vance Stone stirs the passions that run deep within her adds to her willingness to follow him without question. Vance has an Apache blood brother and they head towards his tribe for safety from Kathleen's husband who is hot on their trail. Outside of the tribe they find Boyd's mutilated body. He was caught by the tribe raping an Apache maid. Now Kathleen is truly free to seek her hearts desire. And right now that desire is Vance! But can they build a relationship? There is more to building a relationship then the hot steamy sex that they share. But is that enough to see them through the many obstacles that come up between them?
Trail of Seduction starts with a bang and never stops. The author gets the reader invested in the character of Kathleen from the very first page. You can't help but feel sorry for her plight want her to find a way out of her abusive marriage. And the reader is not disappointed with the appearance of Vance and the death of Boyd. Vance and Kathleen can't seem to keep themselves out of trouble. You don't know what adventure they will be lead into next. Right before the reader's eyes, Kathleen learns the joys of her sexuality, as she learns the joys of a man's body. She doesn't let her past ruin her present. These are truly wonderful characters. This book is full of action and suspense and keeps the reader enthralled and wondering. This is a terrific first book for D. Musgrave. This is a recommended read.
